Today, Jonathan extended the students' experience with modeling buildings for placement in
Google Earth. He demonstrated how to add textures to a building using actual pictures.
Students used their models of the Durham CCB building from the previous class (or created
new models of this building). Once the students had the central tower of the building
created as a 3D object, Jonathan showed them how to import a photograph of the building
(downloaded from the web) into Google Sketchup and how to stretch the picture so that it fit
perfectly with the model.
The class then used reference points visible in the photo to draw details on the model.
