During this class the students continued to trace the TFS logo. This was a complex
assignment: the logo consists of a figure holding a torch, standing on the globe. Students
had to isolate different parts of the photo and use different layers to trace those
components. There were several motivations for tracing the logo. First, we wanted to clean
up some of the hand-drawn aspects of the current logo; we also wanted to have the
highest-quality digital representation of the image possible, and the ability to scale that
image up or down easily. Finally, we wanted to add text and other elements that could not be
added to the hand-drawn version.
Today, some of the more advanced students were able to finish the tracing of the logo, and
to begin to add text flowing in a circle around the new logo.
