Alice Programming Day 2

Topic: Alice Programming
Time Duration: 45 minutes lesson 1 hour 30 minutes
Grades: K-5th

Today the class began by reviewing the vocabulary from the previous class. The instructor went over how to create a program. The students created sample programs on the chalk board. The students had to create instructions on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The students had to define the variables in the program then create the code as if it were a real computer. After the class discussion, the students separated into two different groups, one for boys and the other for girls. The groups sat down and brainstormed on paper how they wanted their program to look and what they wanted it to do. Students were able to add characters to their brainstorm and write a short story for the program to play. It was almost like making a movie. The students didn't get a chance to finish building their programs on the computer but they still had one more day left to do so.
