Sparkle Bottles

Topic: Sparkle Bottles and Tattoos
Time Duration: 30 minutes for Tattoos and 1 hour 30 minutes for Sparkle Bottles.
Grades: K-7th

Note: The materials were setup prior to the beginning of class.
The class began with the students creating self-made tattoos. Each student was given a small square of paper towel to illustrate (see lesson plan). The instructor applied water to the students' arms and hands so that the tattoos could be applied.
The class transitioned to making sparkle bottles. Materials were passed out and the students arranged themselves into groups of two. One partner held the bottle while the other partner poured corn syrup into the bottle. After all the bottles were filled, confetti and water were added to each bottle. The instructor walked around to make sure that the tops of the bottles were secured tightly. Everyone shook their bottle until the syrup and water mixed together smoothly. The entire process was repeated, except this time the students made sparkle tubes to wear around their necks. The students were able to take their experiments home with them.
