Today, Dr. Garrett Love taught the students about the center of gravity. He used Lego Blocks to help with his lesson. Students brainstormed ideas about how to construct their blocks and they thought of hypotheses to explain the outcomes of the block's orientation. The students used graph paper to design structures with a base of three units. They then converted the abstract sketches into buildings with the LEGO Blocks. Students used the Cross Beam applet to design some exotic structures. Then they tested these structures out with the Lego Blocks. This applet is very efficient when constructing block models without using the trial and error system.

After the break the class discussed tension, compression, and bending.
