Today Jeff Krause taught the students about biomedical engineering. The students learned how the valves of the heart operate. The activity consisted of using plastic bottles filled with water to model the heart valves. Students use tubes, paper clips, balloons, and air pumps to generate a simulated heart. They related the unique parts of the heart to the important elements of biomedical research.
