Today was focused mostly on exporting students' websites from Inkscape for use on the web.
This process began with the PNG export from Inkscape (which many students had done on
Friday). After that, students had to open their exported images in the bitmap graphics
editor GIMPShop. From this program, they could "slice" their page into different sections.
Some of these sections would be exported as GIF or JPEG images to be used in the web pages.
Other sections, such as those with a single color background and/or lots of text, could be
emulated completely with HTML and CSS and so did not need to be exported as images.
During this slicing and exporting process, students learned quite a few features of
GIMPShop: layers, transparency, guides, marquee selections, and web image formats.
