It's the last day of Internet Science Explorations. Today the students will actually be creating their own web pages. There are two options to create a web page. The class could use a composer or BB Edit. The composer allows you to type in what you want on a blank page. If they desire to make anything more specific, they can actually go in the source code to make changes to their tags, which are automatically created by the composer as they type on the blank page. Unlike Netscape composer, BB Edit will only allow the students to make changes after they have written all their tags in the source code. The disadvantage is that the students won't be able to see what their tags are creating. In the end, the outcomes are the same. When the students pair up, they begin to create a web page. As they diligently work on their creations, they learn how to put their pictures up, how to change tags and how to better design their web page.

When the groups completed their web pages, class presentations began. Presentations had to be put on hold for just a second because the class was unexpectedly going to meet a real scientist. They had an opportunity to see a live conference with scientists. At the conference they were able to talk to people in other states through a screen!!! They asked great questions about what a scientist does and how they are important to our society. They had a great time with that.

The class then finally completed their presentations. The web pages were absolutely fabulous. Before leaving their one week experience, they wrapped up class by reflecting on the entire week. Then it was time for certificates and T-shirts and the group photo. Even though the week was brought to an end, we can safely say the students left with a better understanding of the internet.
