The kids were pretending they were computers and were sending messages to Solomon and Phillip. Elizabeth gave the students some worksheets to practice sending messages. They were talking about content of the internet and search engines. They had examples like Google, sirs, yahoo, ask, search, meta crawler, Altavista. They also talked about intranets, which are local networks. They talked about how boolean algebra helped with searching. They also talked about spiders and how they help Google gain all the websites. The mentor is teaching about how different ways are used to make certain things show up. They are doing a scavenger hunt on the internet which will help them test what they learned.

When they were learning about search engines this one kid seemed to be very smart. They seemed to know how to search with quotation marks instead of no quotation marks. They talked about the intranet. The intranet is a local network. Some examples are Shodor and CNN.
