The following reports were written by members of Engineers in Training during the third day of the program. Some elements may have been removed/edited for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Langston

It was graet.

Legno

Today in engineering we tested bridge beams and put bricks on them. we broke them once we were done with them. we had fun. we also made boxes and filled them with sand

Alex

Today i learnd about how beams bear weigth and about cross-sections and how they work. i liked getting to break the beams we tested with bricks.

Alex

Today we learned about what makes things hold, namely beams, and what the following words/terms meant: Moment Of Inertia Section Modulus Cross-Section Nueteral Access We used a java applet to try to create what we thought was a stable beam, and then went outside to test certain pre-built beams. It was fun today!

Will

my favorite part about today was when we whent out side and did the experament with styrifoam and put certein amout of wehit on it ,and we had to predict what the wehit would be before hand by the moment of intertia.

Elijah

I learned that the moment of intertia tells you about bridges in that they tell you how strong it is or when it will break.

lateya

Today we did things with foam. We had fun today.

Ann

I learned more about mass, volumn, and area. I liked watching the the foam boards break.

labreya

What we did was breaking foam by puting bricks on top of it. It was fun and tommorrow we are going to be build bridges with foam and glue. This will realy help me in school. Because we might have some engineering in DSA so I am so glad my Grandmother put me in for all of the weeks. I just want to say thank you to the people who are helping us. I can tell they want us to know things in life. Because if they didn't they wouldn't be here. So I just want to say thank you.
