The class started off the afternoon with a short preamble on water runoff, which quickly led to an out-door activity. Outside, the class experimented with different kinds of sand in different kinds of ways. Once the members of the class began to feel a painful burning sensation from the belligerent sun they were showed the door to the wonderfully air-conditioned Shodor building. They then began to model soil conditions using blue and yellow excel spreadsheets, which were quite a nifty design.

After taking a long break for snack under the scorching summer sun, the students came inside and began to model hydraulics. The students then measured the outside dimensions of the Shodor building in order to find the old water garden. When they came back inside they continued to work with the blue and yellow spreadsheets with the new data they just obtained. They worked with their spreadsheets for the remainder of class.
