Carbon from the Air
Goal:
The students will learn a forest's role in the carbon cycle.
The students will develop a forest management strategy to help mitigate global warming by maximizing carbon sequestering.

| Cutting and pasting data to an spreadsheet and graphing the results. | |
| Averaging columns of data in a spreadsheet. | |
| Using spreadsheet formulas to reference cells and find the difference between them. | |
| Materials: | |
| Computer with Excel or other spreadsheet CO2FIX V 2.0 This is the professional forest model used in this lesson. The software including input files can be downloaded free from: http://www.efi.fi/projects/casfor If your administration doesn't permit you to download programs you can use the three Excel versions of the data found in the professional models. See Downloads. |
