Today, Aaron started the class by giving the students more information for their last programming challenge. In JavaScript they learned about objects that could be used for grouping variables. Using the skills they had developed up to this point, the class started working with HTML5. The students learned how to build a canvas on a webpage using JavaScript. On the canvas, they were challenged to add a randomly moving population onto the canvas. The second part of the challenge was to figure out how to make the population move on the canvas without leaving a trail of "footprints," or various bits of extra information when put into motion. Once the students had a good grasp of their challenge, the class took a break.

After the break, Aaron let the students experiment with their newly developed skills from what they learned this week until the end of class. Ernie talked with the students about the Shodor apprenticeship program and most of the class seemed interested to learn more about Shodor and how to become an apprentice.
