Candid Student Reports

The following (emails) were written by members of the Modeling Your World during the first session of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Today we were given a sheet with instructions on how
to build a model in Stella. We had to design The model
and make it work.

Steven
TOday was the last day of modleing your world we did 2
stella modles they were really hard to do the were also
confusing but with little help we did the job

Amos

Today was our last day of modeling our world, and today
we put our knowledge to work. Given data on Lynx to
Hare predator-prey relationships, we used STELLA to
create graphs showing how the populations change depend-
ing on each other. We did this pretty much by ourselves
(save for some small detials), and then we put different
varibles through the graphs to see how they changed.

Alan

The last day or MYW was alot of fun. Even though the
Lynx and Bungee Jump project was hard it was also very
fun. I like brakes and the food but i think we need
more drinks, thats just me though. I will probally
come back for another Program

Dan

Today was the last day. We we recapd on the models we
used all week. Then we built a model on STELLA about
lynx and hares living in Africa. Then we did built a
different model on bunjee jumping. Today was so fun!!

Ari and Michelle
Today was the best day yet! We used STELLA for the
entire class, and generate complex models of a bungee
jumper's fall and a population of lynx and hares. I
made my lynx and hare model much more complex by adding
pumas and dry spells. It was awesome!

Andrew
I enjoyed my week at MYW! I learned a lot about models
and population changes that I didn't know. I hope to
eventually return here to volunteer or get a job!
