Today in the Engineers in Training workshop, the students calibrated their measurements for baseline data to put into the ProMotion and Data Flyer applets. The students tested and recorded the drop distance of a marble from five different heights on their ramps. Next, they input their data into Data Flyer, an Interactivate applet that graphs data points and finds the line of best fit. By using this application, students were able to determine a relationship between the height from which the marble is dropped (H) and the distance from the origin (X) that the marble lands.

After that, they loaded the ProMotion applet, and entered data off their data table in Data Flyer. By using this application, the students were able to predict the path of the marble. By using this information, the students can predict where the marble lands. To test if this is true, the students held a marble-launching contest, where each group attempted to launch a marble into a bowl to score points.
