This class introduced the workshop students to NetLogo. During the class we examined sample models in the NetLogo models library and observed how they changed when we modified them. Then the students split into groups ranging in size between one and three and made a model from scratch using the instructions on a handout we gave them. Their models used sliders to control the birthrate, initial population and lifespan of turtles and printed the current population while the model was running. Once the students had completed their model they were given time to add features to it (such as plots and extra behaviors)
