The forth day of Computational Chemistry really tested what the students had learned in the previous days. When the class arrived they were informed by the system operator at Shodor, Marjorie, that there was something fishy going on at Shodor. The problem surfaced when Marjorie noticed that most of our web server was almost completely full, when she investigated she noticed that there was a web page in Nigel's personal directory that sold term papers and exam answers. Nigel denied that he had ever been involved with his, he also said he noticed some strange things in his office when he came in. The investigation was underway.

The students quickly assigned jobs to everyone, secured the scene and began questioning. Everyone in the office began as a suspect but the field was quickly narrowed down. By the afternoon it was evident that Ebonee and Kirstin had roles in the crime. The forensic analyzers discovered several pieces of evidence, one a note that Nigel admitted the note's contents were his user name and password to logon to scan, the web server. Through a simple handwriting analysis the investigators discovered it was written in Ebonee's handwriting, and with an ink chromatography experiment the scientists discovered that the pen they were given by Bob3 was used to write the note. The students also took a footprint from the scene of the crime and were able to match it to an ink print of Kirstin's sandal. Also the crime investigators found a couple of messages from Ebonee to Kirstin, written in code, that seemed to outline a scheme between the two, one very incriminating note said "Nigel was framed it worked." At this point the investigation was suspended until the next day, Ebonee and Kirstin were not in good shape.
