How do students apply?

Applicants are accepted by nomination only. Applicants in academic institutions (public or private schools) can be nominated by any administrator, teacher, counselor, coach, or other adult so authorized by the institution. Home school applicants can be nominated by a parent.

Teachers can nominate either by U.S. mail or online. Nomination letters should include descriptions of demonstrated excellence in science, mathematics, and/or computing. Key characteristics for successful applicants are: intellectual curiosity, perseverance, and the ability to work well with others.
