Candid Student Reports

The following (emails) were written by members of the Saturday Explorations Club during the third session of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Today we used a program called STELLA. We used
three things on STELLA they were called Carwash,
Flu epidemic, and Drug. They tought us how to make
computer models of how much work it would take
to wash your car to perscribe someone a drug and
to see how many people would get sick with a flu
epidemic.

Kati

Today was a lot of fun because we got to work on
STELLA. We made a Car Wash, Flu, and Taking Drug
models. They were really fun because when we
finished we got to see the results and watch them
occur as they happened. We got to see how much
money we could make from a car wash, how many
people would be healthy, get a vaccine, get the flu,
or get better, and we got to try to give patient the
right amount of medicine to make them healthy but
not kill them or hurt them. Today was the best
meeting so far by far.

Ryan

Today in class we worked with models on the
computer. With the program Stella we did three
different programs. They were called Car Wash,
Flu Epidemic, and Drugs. They showed us how
much easier it would be if you used the computer
before you actually did it. Example we used the
program Car Wash and when we finish we knew
the most we should charge for one car and get
the most money. That is a lot easier then just
guessing.
