Candid Student Reports

The following (emails) were written by members of the Saturday Explorations Club during the first session of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Today we tryed to explode acid out of 
shampaine bottles we used Vinegar, and 
Alka-seltzer.I learned that the stronger 
the acid is the more power it will give you.
The weaker the acid is the less power 
you'll get. We also used the computers 
and went to MacSparten and copyed some 
acid combinations.This is what I did today 
at Science and explorations.

I Learned that acids + bases=gases and that
if you add vinger with ALKA-SELTZER can make
gas to blow off.Never give alka-seltzer to
kids that have chicken pots or flu symtoms
bafore your docter says so.

DARIUS

       Today, we did more experiments with 
water. This time, we mixed vinegar, 
alka-seltzer, and water. The results were, 
the more vinigar and alka-selter you added 
to the water the father the bottle top flew. 
When we got in side, we recaorded our 
information. We also made macspaten 
to make models of these models that 
Bob gave us. Bye

       Todays class was very fun. First we 
went out side and did a twister by shaking 
the bottle in circles. Later we started working 
with acids and bases. We used vinegar for the 
acid and we used alkeseltzer for the base. We 
mixed vinegar, water, and alkeseltzer in a 
bottle eventually it exploded. We changed the 
amounts of vinegar and alkeseltzer to get a 
beter explosion. Then we used mac spartan 
to model acids.
