Candid Student Reports

The following reports were written by members of Modeling Your World, Session B during the second day of the program. Some elements may have been removed/edited for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Today we learned about aerodynamics and what it really means. We made mini air
foils and tested them in a real wind tunnel. Then we went and used the virtual
airfoil simulater. It was a fun experience, because I have never used a program
like that before.

Dominque

Today we learned about aerodynamics. We made air foils and tested them in a
wind tunnel. Some flew others did not. It was educational. Then we worked on a
simulator, that was called Foilsim. We learned to fly airplanes on a simulator.
It was fun. All in all "Keep your NOSE-UP!".

Erin, Fei

Today was very fun. We really enjoyed the hands on activities and the wind
tunnel. We liked everything really and nothing was bad!

Electra, Josh

I had a great time using the wind tunnel and computer wind simulator. I made
the 'best flying' wing in the wind tunnel. I also had a blast designing wings
and finding lift for planes taking off with the wind tunnel simulator!

Mathew

Today I had lots of fun studing aerodynamics. I thought that studying the
direction of the wind was fascinating. One of the students built a real
wind tunnel. We made wings, and tested them in the wind tunnel. I enjoyed today
a lot.

Jordan

I loved playing with Foilsim. It was fun finding out how much a Cessna 173 R
weighs.

Jeremy

Today we did a simulation about aerodynamics. Using a program called FoilSim,
we simulated the behavior of airfoils in flight. Afterward, we messed around
with the simulator.

Aaron, Tim

We learned about wind tunnels and aerodynamics. What we like about this was we
got to make our own wing and even tested it to see if it could fly.

Tony, Miles

I like everything don't change a thing.

Adam

I really liked this class because I like working with aerodynamics. I like to
figure out the measure of airplane wings because it's related to things in the
real world.
