Making an SSH connection with Putty

Step 1:If you have not already done so, download PuTTY. You may place it directly on your desktop, or save it in an application directory and make a shortcut on your desktop or Start Menu.

Step 2:Run PuTTY by double clickingon it. You can either enter in your host name, select SSH protocol, and open a connection with default properties, or you can save a configuration with options to control how the terminal window will appear on your screen. If you use the left menu to change viewing options, return to the session selection screen by pressing Session. Press open to start a new session.

Making an SCP connection with WinSCP

Step 1:If you have not already done so, download WinSCP. You may place it directly on your desktop, or save it in an application directory and make a shortcut on your desktop or Start Menu.

Step 2:Double click the WinSCP icon. Enter your login and host information.

Step 3:You will be presented with local and remote file selection menus. Highlight the file or folder you wish to copy on the machine you wish to copy from, and press the copy button, or select copy from the Edit menu.
