Making an SSH connection with NiftyTelnet SSH

Step 1:If you have not already done so, download NiftyTelnet SSH. Note that this program is different from recent versions of NiftyTelnet (no SSH), which use Kerberos authentication. Copy NiftyTelnet SSH into your Applications folder on your Mac.

Step 2:Open a new connection by selecting new connection from the file menu. Your first time connecting to a given computer, you will have to create a session configuration for it. Click the New Button. Give your cofinguration a name, select the host you will be connecting to, and select SSH+Blowfish protocol. Select any viewing options you may want, such as different colors or a larger font size than the default of 9 pt. Click OK.

Step 3:Highlight the session you want to open, and press Connect.

Making an SCP connection with NiftyTelnet SSH

Step 1:Proceed as above with creating a session configuration for the host.

Step 2:Instead of pressing Connect to start an SSH session, press Scp to start a secure copy connection. You can either send or receive files, and there is a pull down menu to set this. For local files, press the add files/folders button to bring up a file selection dialog window. Selct the file/folder to add. For remote files, type in the complete path starting from the home directory of the account under which you are logging in. If the destination does not lie within the account you are using to log in, type an explicit path starting from the / directory. If you are copying a folder or directory, be sure to select the Copy Contents of Nested Folders checkbox.
