Instructions - Astronomical Coordinate Converter

Purpose:

The Astronomical Coordinates Calculator takes input in the form of right ascension, declination, and parallax and returns x, y, and z coordinates in parsecs.

General Information:

  • Enter in right ascension in hours, minutes, and seconds.
  • Enter in declination in degrees, arcminutes, and arcseconds. If your declination is negative, only enter the degrees value in as negative, enter the arc minutes and arc seconds values as positive.
  • Enter in your parallax in arc seconds.
  • Press evaluate to get x, y, and z coordinates in parsecs.
