How do your hairs know how long to grow?

Activities:

The students will measure eyebrows to determine the length of anagen. They will compare the anagen length for the students in the class to determine a range. 

Extension activity: Students will measure 100 hairs on other students' heads. They will put the data into a spreadsheet and plot the data to draw conclusions about the rate of their hairs' growth. They will defend their assertion that the growth rate is constant or varies with time. 

Materials needed:

Metric rulers, computer with spreadsheets.
