Using Paths/Unions - TARGET LOGO

In Inkscape:

  1. PATHS & UNIONS (5) - demo how it works
    • Go to Path > ...
    • Union - adds multiple shapes together - same attributes making a new shape
    • Difference - subtracts the image on top from the image on the bottom - CUT OUT
    • Intersection - saves the part of the "top image" that intersects with the bottom
    • Exclusion - opposite of "Intersection" saves everything but the middle
    • Division - Cut apart an image - top image cuts from the bottom
  2. Go to File > Open
    • Click on Desktop
    • In the Window click Inkscape Files
    • Open TARGET.jpg
  3. Look at image:
    • options & demo: layer circles on top of each other
    • WHAT IF? You wanted the logo to float on top of a complicated background?

[EXAMPLE]

  1. Go to Layer > Add Layer
    • Name it bullseye
  2. Draw a red circle
  3. Draw a smaller black circle on top
  4. Click on both - WHICH PATH OPTION? (allow for response)
  5. Go to Path > Difference - See what happened?
  6. Finish up logo - draw a smaller red circle in side large circle
  7. Type TARGET - fill in red (probably ARIAL)

Go to File > Save As

  • Type in: yourname TARGET.svg
  • Click Save

Go to File > New > Default (new window - close or leave open - up to you)
