The explorers first begin with a puzzle that Dr. Robert Panoff, Bob1, gives them to try. He gives the explorers a scenario in which they are constructing three houses and the pipes to the houses cannot cross. The explorers must then find a way to get water, heat, and electricity to the three houses. The explorers are then given a piece of paper with several geometric figures. The explores have to find a way to make a copy of the object without tracing a previous line. "You can't do this," D.J. exclaim.

"You're right!" Bob1 answers, "mathematically this is impossible, but how do you know this?" The explorers label how many points meet at each corner or intersection of the figure. The explorers quickly discover that if a figure has more than two odd points then it is impossible to draw without picking up their writing utensil. The explorers use the following criteria to complete the worksheets:
1. Label
2. Analyze
3. Conjecture
4. Test

"It a very important part mathematics, that can scientist time if someone finds that it is impossible," Bob1 says to the explorers. After a delightful break, the explorers return into the computer room and are given a wonderful challenge. With a large prize at stake the explorers have to find a way to start at the hotel or the restaurant and cross each bridge only once to the other destination. If they are unable to find a way to achieve this goal then they have a chance to win a smaller prize if they can prove that it cannot be done.

The explorers next have to draw their own graph in which is similar to the graph that Bob1 shows them earlier. The explorers have a great time doing this activity. Unfortunately, no one receives the grand prize, but the explorers enjoy trying to figure it out anyway. The explorer write their biweekly reports and go home with some newly found knowledge.
