The first day of Math Explorations began with an introduction by Bob1. The first activity was a simple pattern recognition, the students had to find the reason these statements were so: "I'm Bob and I'm three," "I'm Aimee and I'm five" and so on. Once the trick was reconized it was taken to the next level, strings of statements were said such as: "I'm Michelle, michelle is eight, eight is five, five is four and four is always four."

Next the students were introduced to tessalations. The started off by making their own but tracing a pattern on paper then the students used a program to make several more tessalations faster. Lastly, the students used a computer program called "the maze game" to introduce the students to graphing points and get them used to it.
