The Girls in Science Statewide Project encourages girls who are interested in science. The project supports three unique opportunities for sixth-grade girls.

The primary goal of the North Carolina State Museum of Natural Sciences' expanded and enhanced Girls in Science Statewide Project is to support and develop sixth grade girls' interest in science statewide. The project is projected to reach 324 students across the state, over a three year period. This enhanced project retains the Neuse River Program as its core, expands its Site-Based Clubs to economically disadvantaged counties, and adds a new component, the Summer Outdoor Ed-venture camps, to reach a statewide audience.
