Opening AppleTalk Connections Over Chooser

It is possible to open an AppleTalk connection to the UNIX server, but the server is configured to use passwords which are encrypted, and different from your login password.

Step 1:If an AppleTalk password has not been set up for the account to which you are logging in, create a .passwd file in your home directory. This file should contain your AppleTalk password in clear text on one line. The file's permissions should be set to '-rw-------', or User can read and write to the file, but Group and World cannot. If you are not sure how to do this, check with your nearest UNIX guru.

Step 2:On your Mac, select the server using Chooser.

Step 3:Log in using your AppleTalk password.
