The Neuse River

The link to the Pamlico Sound

The Neuse river is one of the greatest rivers in North Carolina. Located entirely within the state it runs from just above Durham into the Pamlico Sound, a distance of 200 miles!

How did the Neuse get to where it is? Well, small streams flow into the River, adding their water to the water already in it. In addition, water from the land around the river will have water which runs into the river. The area where this happens is called a WATERSHED .
