Each module consists of four components:

  • Content Module -- an activity-based textbook, written in mathematical language appropriate for K-8 teachers.

  • Activity Workbook -- in which readers can do the activities described in the Content Module.

  • Classroom Guide -- provides the reader (prospective or practicing teacher) with information about how to incorporate discrete mathematics into their K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 classrooms, including blackline masters and grade-appropriate handouts, ready for use in the classroom.

  • Instructor's Guide -- provides college teachers and professional development providers with helpful information about how this book can be used in various types of courses and workshops.

The first three components move the reader from being a student of discrete mathematics to becoming a teacher of discrete mathematics by first presenting them with interesting mathematical activities in the Content Modules, then engaging them with solving problems in the Activity Workbook, and finally providing teachings tips in the Classroom Guide based on the experience of K-8 teachers who have implemented these activities in their classrooms.
