The class began with the students continuing the activity from day three. Garrett explained to them that a parabola was similar to an arc. They plotted new data and a new formula on the graphing applet. The students experimented with various different algebraic formulas to get a line to run through all the points.

After snack, Garrett handed out a bag of Lego bricks to teams of three. Each team built a lego beam that supported weights. After building various simple structures and making observations, the students were allowed to build structures on their own. They competed to build the structure that held the most weight. Using an applet, they calculated the moment of inertia and the area. The best structure held 49 weights. After the contest was completed, Garrett talked to the class about stability and strength in a beam.
