My Math and science experiences

I am a 9th grader and I am currently taking Integrated Mathematics III and physics. I am also an apprentice at Shodor where I am learning to code html and use other computer related tools. I have always been interested in Science and Math and have participated in many camps that dealt with math principles including camps at NC State and UNC. I have also completed a Chemistry course and Biology.

Today we learned about the Shodor apprentice program and went through the apprentice handbook. After that we learned about coding HTML and made our own sites. We also went over how to use the various programs such as webmail and reflections and visited a website called W3schools which had helpful info on using HTML.

Today we learned about using two visual editing programs, Inkscape and Gimpshop. We used them to edit several pictures and learned about the various tools they had. Once we had done that our assignment was to create a personal logo for ourselves and a couple of other graphics. This was pretty easy since the class really went over almost all of the tools we had to use.

Today we learned about CSS(cascading style sheets) and how to use it to manipulate the way our websites look. After we had a lecture on how to use CSS we changed our websites with it. We did various things such as changing the color of the back ground or text. After that we talked over the AMC or apprenticeship mathematics component. This included taking a couple of placement tests, then finding an applet on the interactivate site and testing it. Once we had done that we had to write how well we thought the applet explained what its purpose was and answer a few other questions. This was a fairly interesting exercise since we had the chance to look at some interesting math concepts and see if we could give advice to help improve the activity.

Today we learned even more about CSS and even talked over and added made a bit of Javascript, which was very interesting. I really liked how I was able to use this class's information to help me with the CSS challenge.
