Agent Models

11/18/17

Today we started with reviewing what we learned last time with vensim models and made a predator prey model. It added more layers to the one we had already done. We also got logins for Agent Cubes. It is a really cool website. I hadn't ever heard of it before then. We built a model for the spread of disease. You could watch as the sick person came in contact with the healthy person and caused them to become infected. It was a really cool model.

Vensim Bunnies

11/11/17

This Saturday we were more "hands on" than other times. We learned about vensim models and the key sections to make one. Then we made one about bunnies reproductive and death rates. We learned how to also find a table and graph as well as have an interactive graph. The program we used was very straight forward so it was easy to get the hang of it. At the end we were given an other assignment that we would try and complete on our own. It was to make another of the vensim models but this time it showed the spread of disease. I'm interested to learn what the new project we will be given next Saturday. I haven't done very much of the html information project yet and am planning to try and get that done as soon as possible. Hopefully with that project I will learn how to format my blog differently or be more familiar with the comands. I don't know much about it other than that it is simple (comparatively) so I wonder even though it is pretty elementary design wise if you can add color or fonts, something like that. Maybe tweek the layout.

What is a Model?

11/04/17

This Saturday we learned about several types of models and some different ways they can be used. The coolest one we did was the heater problem where we used colors to see where a room would be heated depending on where the heaters were located and how many. I never realized how much you can actually do with excel, I only really knew it as a spreadsheet for entering raw data.

Symbol Manipulation

10/21/17

Today we started with the difference between numbers and numerals and how you could manipulate certain aspects to create an equation. I hadn't been taught about the differences before today. I'm also excited to research HTML because I haven't actually done anything with it before. I have only ever seen it on my dads computer before but I never knew what it was. I was worried that I would be to out of my element here but because the program is so accommodating I haven't felt overwhelmed or like I was unable to do it. I'm still getting used to sitting for so long at a computer which isn't had per say but it can be slightly uncomferatble at times. I also had my fisrt meeting with my mentor. We introduced oursleves and after meeting her I feel more comfertable here because she really seems nice and like she would be a really big help. Overall I feel like I will be able to keep up with everything more so than when I started two weeks ago.

Workplace Ethics and New Concepts

10/14/2017

We started with a presentation about workplace ethics. I am really interested in becoming accommodated with how a real office function. Things like proffesional dress and communcation is something I haven't been exposed to as much as I would like. We also had a lesson from Dr.Panoff about how we actually know something is true. I was suprised to find out that in google sheets it won't give you the most accurate value only the one it thinks you want.We also had a lesson from Dr.Panoff about how we actually know something is true. I also had trouble setting up Atom as an Editor in Cyberduck because the formatting is different for Windows.
