Shodor Education and my Experience as an Apprentice
The Shodor apprenticeship program was a great experience for me. The two years I was an apprentice at Shodor gave me a chance to learn many new things. I learned an extensive number of skills both computational and professional that will help me in the future. My most recent project of making the registration system for the
NCSSM Ethics and Leadership conference has taught me how to work for an outside client and meet certain requirements. The teachers here have been amazing, teaching the apprentices all the incredible things to learn about computational science. In my many classes here at Shodor, I was educated in numerous programming and coding languages. I also now know how to use some modeling software.
Coming into Shodor as a beginner apprentice in the fall of 2006, I knew little to none about Mac's, coding, and modeling. In my 2 years here, I have been educated in areas that I did not know existed before my apprenticeship. Some of those areas include the administration of a network, running numerous commands on the terminal, and the uses of a datbase. Overall, my apprenticeship here at Shodor has been very educational and will definitely be very beneficial to me in the future.
