My name is Nara and I attend Josephine Dobbs Clement Early College. I am currently a Sophomore and in the upcoming school year I will become a Junior. Currently, I am taking Honors English IV, Honors Biology, Honors Math 3, and Civics and Economics. The clubs I am involved in are National Honor Society, Yearbook, Latinx, and School Newspaper. After-school activities involve volunteering at the Durham Public Library, Library Youth Partners Intern, Swimming, Volleyball, and Soccer.
I am Peruvian-American and I am proud of my culture and heritage. Some of my hobbies are playing with my dog Luna, watching study-related videos, Netflix, reading biographies, and listening to 80s music. I am an active person and I love being involved with several sports. I like to spend most of my time with my family walking on trails. We go to several parks like the West Point on the Eno to spoil my dog.
I am personally interested in the STEM field because of my Dad who taught me a lot about computers. I am hopeful to become either an Biomedical Engineer or Software Engineer. I am still undecided on what I want to pursue yet. I try to be involved as much as I can to become a role model to the rest of my family. As the eldest child, that lives in the United States, I feel the responsibility to show my family that I am a dedicated student. During the summer, I will be attending NC State Engineering Residential Computer Science Camp and UNC-Greensboro CHANCE Residential Camp. I am so excited for the summer!
Some of my goals that I would like to pursue is to travel to visit the Seven Wonders of the world. My first stop would be Machu Picchu because it is in Peru.
