What did you learn today or this week that you're most excited about?

I learned about sed and awk read some of Jyms book I like how they present the information.

Comments: They are very useful tools for anyone working with the Unix command-line. And they can be fun to play with. But the key is learning Regular Expressions. -James Williams Zavada

What did you do that you are most proud of?

I am most proud of showing what I know to Innocent while learning myself. Updating the machines. Getting a working encryption/decryption. Taking notes on the Drbd/Heartbeat.

Comments: That's great! I've always held the opinion that the ability to teach others is just as important for a Sysadmin as the ability to learn. -James Williams Zavada

What have you heard about that you are hoping to learn more of?

Learning introductory programming.

Comments: Shell scripting is a good way to start. Either that or Perl. -James Williams Zavada

Who (among Shodor staff and your peers) helped you the most? How did they help you?

Jym showed me some of the uses of awk when we were trying to best configure the inventory information to suit assets in RT and on the wiki.

Comments:

Who did you help? How did you help them?

Helped Innocent with learning the basics of unix shell like cd, pwd, ls, man, mkdir, and others and showed the different flags to use. We had made some test files in vi and how to quickly navigate though out vi.

Comments: Way to go! I'm really impressed with how you've taken Innocent under your wing! Thanks!!! -James Williams Zavada
