PHP Project

Introduction: Hey, do you wanna feel so ingenious? Try PHP! Scripting languages for people who need gratuitous amounts of awesome! With all new topics like OOP! OO programming, it’s like adding amazing to functions. Sound the alarm, you’re gonna be uncomfortably awesome!

What’s that? You want cookies? Well how about Session Cookies?! Made with hash, real hash! Websites! You’ll be good at them! It’s a scripting language for cool people! These aren’t your dad’s websites, these are killer websites! Dynamic websites!

Objects, XML, Objects, XML, file handling, session handling, database handling, more features than your website has room for. Your sites will be so cool, Jonathan will be like, “waitttttttt, whaaaaa???” And you’ll be like, “pwn’d” and rub your coding awesomeness right in his face!

You’ll have so much pwnergy! Pwnergy! Yeahhhh! Just pwning all! the! time! Power running, power programming, power consumption, power GUIs, power steering, power cookies, power strings, power spawning semicolons! You’ll have so many semicolons! 4000 semicolons!

Give sessions to your users and they’ll be good at storing data! Make your users work abnormally fast! They’ll work as fast as Joel! People will watch them working and think they’re Joel! They’ll compete in a work-off with Joel! In the work-off with the actual Joel, it’ll be a tie, and Joel will get deported back to Nerdonia!

Hey, go with the sure thing. Don’t gamble on Perl. Try PHP, the scripting language that will make you awesome!

Assignment:
1. XML (Warning: only for those with extreme programming awesomeness)
2. OOP (Object-oriented programming)
3. Databases/MySQL
4. File handling
5. Sessions
6. Advanced Function-based Programming

Your group’s task is to make a presentation that explains one of the above PHP topics. The presentation also must include an example program that the group wrote and can demonstrate to the class. The example will show how the topic is used in a real program, and must be approved by Ismael prior to your group coding it. When presenting you are expected to be audible, make eye contact with your audience, not look at your PowerPoint, and limit the amount of text on each slide. Presentations will be limited to 10 minutes long. If your group goes over, you’ll be subjected to Ismael and Luke’s musical tastes at ever increasing volume.
