Looking into the past October 20, 2007
When I was younger I had a dream. I wanted to cure the diseases that plagued the
families of my friends. So when I was younger I was always the first to sign up for
scientific projects such as MSEN and Robotics Club. In MSEN we studied ways to better
use math and science and went on field trips about science. In Robotics we take six weeks
to build a fully functional remote controlled robot to compete in competitions that change
every year.
My First Class October 25, 2007
Last Saturday was my first Shodor class and I was overtly excited to be there. When I
had first discovered that I would be able to join the program I was so excited that I
started to yell and jump around the house smiling. On Saturday the first thing that we
learned were the rules, as in every good time you are allowed to have you must first know
the rules to break the rules (that's what my dad tells me anyway), the after that I got my
first taste of programming a skill that I've desired since middle school I was finally
aquiring. So first I was taught how to form an unordered list, how to make links to other
websites and finally on my own I learned how to make breaks in lines which is a useful thing
to know unless you want your text to just go on forever.

This week I learned about Gimpshop and Inkscape. With these new programs I can make my websithe
more interesting and diverse than my current website. It may be a slight bit more interesting than the
css already there.
The thing that I did that I was most proud of was working with Inkscape. While using Inkscape I was able
to take a fairly bad photograph and make the photograph as well as the woman within look half decent.
I'm hoping to learn more about Gimpshop for my website. It seemed more interesting to use for web editing.
Also if I can become proficient at html and graphics design then I think that my websites over all will have
better usability.
Kyle help me the most today. He allowed me to borrow a dollar to get a snack during my break. I paid him back
promptly after lunch.
I actually help a lady during lunch. I gave her a dollar so that she could get a soda. I figure that eventually
the good karma of this act will catch up to me later.

The thing that I learned about this week that I was most excited about was css. CSS stands for cascading style sheets.
These are what is used to decorate many cites written in html. I hope that this will help me find new ways to further design
my websites.
I could remember almost all of the information about the group from the group project at the beginning of class. I'm also
proud of the fact that I had my next assignment mostly done even before it was assigned.
The thing I would like to learn more about is pseudo classes, elements, and classes. I like the idea of being able to
to control almost every aspect of the sight. Also I'd prefer not to have the browser design my website.
Isabelle is helping the most. Last class I was forced to leave early on account of a parade that I didn't really want
go to but I had no choice in the matter.
I wasn't really able to help anybody because no one need my help.

This week I learned more about CSS. Ismael expanded on what was already taught to us by Monte. This gave me a chance to
catch up because unfortunately I missed the last part of class the last class that I attended.
The thing that I was most proud of was the fact that for the most part I already had done the personal website css assignment.
I hope to learn more Javascript. Javascript though difficult looks like fun to put into a site.
Jonathan helped me with my css project. He showed me that I named a div wrong which is why it wasn't showing up how I had
intended to write it. Isabelle help me with my css in a class assignment in which I had apparently forgot to write something in.
I tried to help Phillip with his CSS and I helped challenge my teachers as well as my class mates with a riddle.
