This model shows the diffusion of fire in a forest. When it first loads up there are 3 fire agents and they quickly spread to the nearby cells. Eventually the trees are completely burnt and they turn black. link here

This is the beginning of the fire. The three dots represent the origins of fire.

In this model the fire has spread out. After 10 time steps the fire has covered about 50 percent of the forest and the burnt trees are beginning to show.

At time step 23, the fire as completely covered the forest and about half of the forest is now burnt.

At time step 53, the forest is all burnt. Then life will go through its cycle. The burnt trees are used as the fuel for new trees the grow and the model should be restarts.

These are some statistics that we found online. It displays the speed of fire acres burned per fire. This statistic is provided for non commercial uses from NIFC

Ideas for the next time we do this:

1 origin instead of 3 to make it more realistic

Trees regeneration

extra research to improve realism (such as how fast the fire moves, how fast the trees die, and how fast it regenerates)
