Journals

Experience

Some of my experiences with math is that in 5th grade we had to construct our on building, or home. The first thing that we did was that we had to create a blue print for the building for about two times. I also had to write a journal about what I did that day and all the other days. I could plan, or create new ideas. After that we had to find the surface area, the volume, and the area. Once we did all of that we had finally build the it. We could paint it, had different toys/ items in the building. But me what I did was just paint it and wrote my name and "call it a day", (that is what my mom says). What I think of this project is getting me ready for the next grade and more to come, and for the real world. The grade I got on this project was a B, and I was just a few points away from an A. It was a very good project and I enjoyed it.

My experience for science is that in 6th grade. What we did was have a science fair. In the science fair we could make anything. Also we was put in groups of 4. In these groups of four we had two weeks to do this. What my group and I decided was to show what happens when two atoms come together. So what we did was build a building and have a balloon. What we was going to do with the balloon was put air in it and what we did was when it got to the part when we said "when to atoms come together", we popped the balloon. For this project I got an A. And these are my experiences with math and science.

Module 1

November 3, 2007-December 15, 2007

In Module 1 it was a good start and interesting too. In class we learned about Inkscape and Gimpshop. This programs are for graphic design. Our teacher for the day was Ernest who showed us downloads and the changes we can make with Gimpshop and Inkscape. I like using Gimshop and Inkscape this is could help me a graphic design. After our lunch break Mr. Ron came in class. He is a funny person who dressed real funny and he talked about the way we should dress and act at Shodor. Also he spoke with us about the Ethics Assignment. This Saturdaywe learned about CSS. Our teacher Ishmael Torres who is a great leader is my mentor. We learned about text alignment, and color backgrounds classes. CSS was a little confusing at first but then I started to answer questions which I inderstood it. In the afternoon we had a lady named Mrs. Bethany which will be our AMC teaacher. On December 15 we went over CSS which I understand much better with the help of the my classmates and the instrutor. In the second half of class we went over Javascript. That is a sort of decision maker in programming, it is used in applications. If Javascripts wasn't there it would take a very long time to finish the application. Also you would not be able to make any changes.

Module 2

January 19, 2008-March 8, 2008

In Module 2 it caught more of interest. What we did in Module 2 was learned about modeling different information that pertian to nature and human beings. For example one thing we modeled was how diseases can infect humans in a small enviornment, or large enviornment , also how fast the infect can get to humans. We also learned about different programs that would help with modeling, such as Agentsheets and NetLogo. Agentsheets and NetLogo are basically the same thing they both sitmulate information given from the data required. Another way they are similar is that it seems like you are developing a game, and it deals with education. The difference between them is that Agentsheets you slick and drag the command which made more sense, which is not in detail. Otherwise NetLogo you put in different codes in order to give commands.

Module 3

May 2, 2008-May 10, 2008

In Module 3 we lerned two new topics which are excel and vensim. In excel we basically learned how to organize the data and set it up. This was a easy task to do. The next topic we talked about was vensim. Vensim is a graphical simulater program where you show a diagram models about computional science.
