I am currently a rising 9th grader at East Chapel Hill High in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. As you can probably infer, that’s where I live right now. I’ve lived here for most of my life, but I was born in India. I moved to North Carolina when I was five. Originally, my family resided in Durham, NC, but we moved to Chapel Hill a year later. However, don’t get me wrong. This does not mean that I am a UNC fan. I am a faithful Dukie. XP I love basketball (even though Cross Country is more like my current jive), but my main hobby is definitely singing. Right now, I’m a hardcore soprano. I like singing and listening to all kinds of music. I am a huge Beatles maniac and I am also obsessed with the Phantom of the Opera and my favorite opera, Carmen. Besides singing, I enjoy cooking, reading, running, dancing, basketball, French, volunteering, little kids, having fun, jamming out, and nature. I am a vegetarian. I have been for more than four years now. :) Wow that’s longer than I’ve been at Shodor!
I’ve been around Shodor for a while now. Introduced to the wondrous place by my brother, a former intern, I had attended several workshops here before I decided to stumble upon the pathway of Apprenticeship.
I have learned a lot at Shodor. Not just the various technical skills and the science and math and technology, but a way of life. I have learned about the concept of work ethic, and I have experienced life in a professional community. It has been great learning and working here. I have learned so many new skills and concepts during my time here, and I have found many new passions and hobbies. Additionally, I have made a multitude of lifelong friends and found resources in many helpful people in the Shodor community. It's amazing to see how much I've grown through my experience here. Not just my capacity for knowledge, but myself as a whole person. I am proud to be an Apprentice at Shodor.
There are so many cool things in my life, but I'm not quite sure what my plans are for the future. I have many passions and therefore many possible lines of work for the future. However, I'm not sure which ones are calling for me the most. Right now, though, my main goals are to do my best in every effort and to learn and grow and help out as much as possible. I would like to se my time effectively towards bettering myself, my family, my environment, and my world. So far, I think I've been pretty good about staying on track with these goals. I'm not sure how it will turn out this year, though, as I will be going to high school. I am definetely planning to expand and grow some there. I plan to join the Model United Nations Club and along with the Speech and Debate Team, and I also hope to make the Alley Cats, a female a-capella group at East. Most freshmen don't get in, but I'm hoping that I'll make the auditions.
