My time here at Shodor has truly been a wonderful experience for me. Coming in to this program I did not know what to expect and did not have very high hopes for this program because it sounded boring. Looking back on it now as an advanced apprentice I am thankful for the opportunity to do this. I have learned so much that I know will greatly benefit me in the future. For example, having studied and researched a simulation known as "agentsheets" has increased my knowledge in this technical area. This experience may help give me a competitive when applying for college. The best part about being an advanced apprentice is that my workk may be used by a wide range of people ranging from elementary school kids to teachers. Doctors and scientists use the applications and programs we create. It always feels good to know that the work you do is benefiting many poeple.
As I stated earlier this is my last year as an advanced apprentice in the Shodor program. In the fall I plan to focus more on my career goal. I will apply for an internship at Orthopedics company in Durham, NC. I plan to major in physical therapy in college and minor in music. Although I am not 100 percent sure that I want to go in that field, I think the internship will be the major factor in my decision. Whatever path I pursue in life, what I have learned over the two years at Shodor will stay with me forever and will continur to give me a competitve edge.
