Around this time two years ago I wanted to immerse myself with technology and coding but did not know where to begin. I began searching for classes that a high school student could take and would always end up finding simple Scratch programming classes that really don't teach much about programming. As I searched further, I found more challenging classes but they typically are for college students with an absurd price tag. At that point, I was ready to give up finding classes and just relying on YouTube to answer the infinite questions I have about technology, similar to how I built a computer, when I came across a program called the SUCCEED workshop. I immediately looked at the description and saw it as a perfect class for me to take. I signed up for Programming Concepts with Aaron as the instructor and Website Design with Joel as the instructor and by the end of the summer workshop, I wanted to learn more about programming and design. Aaron, Levi, and Joel all suggested people in the workshop to try for a apprenticeship spot and I was really interested about being an apprentice at Shodor. I filled out the paperwork scheduled and interview and was accepted into the Apprenticeship Program.
I have to give special thanks to Aaron, Joel, Levi, Ernie, Dr. Panoff, and everyone at Shodor for allowing me this wonderful opportunity to learn more about technology.
In the Blog webpage, you will find a detailed blog with entries from every Saturday of the Apprenticeship Program.
In the Portfolio Section, you will find a list of projects I have completed from my time as an Apprentice.
A little about me...
My name is Aaric Han. I am currently a junior. Ever since I was little, I was very interested in music. I love to listen to good music as well as to make music. Because of my love for music, I started to learn the clarinet when I was in the third grade. Since then, I have performed in many venues in the US and in Europe. I share the love for performing just like my idol/role model Michael Collins who is a phenomenal clarinet player and musician.
I have been a member of various bands in NC with the West Millbrook Middle School Band, the West Cary Middle School Band, the Panther Creek Wind Ensemble, the Panther Creek Marching Band, the Central District All-District Band, the NC All-State Band many years as the first chair clarinet player. Outside of NC, I have been lucky to be a part of the Honor Band of America 2017 and the North Carolina of Ambassadors of Music which traveled and performed around Europe. I also have played clarinet in the pit orchestra for Cardinal Gibbons High School's production of "Catch Me If You Can" and in Panther Creek High School's production of "Legally Blonde" as well as "Once Upon A Mattress".
In about two weeks (5/22/18), I will be making my debut in Jazz performance with the Panther Creek Jazz Band in a chart titled "Black Bottom Stomp". I've always been fascinated with Jazz music but have never had the opportunity to play Jazz.
Besides my adoration with music, I am also very fascinated with technology. I love to read up on the latest technology scoop from the latest Apple failures to breakthroughs in processing technology, I have been trying to keep up with the news.
I will be starting an extern at Cisco High this summer. I hope to learn a lot at Cisco.
