This workshop was primarily focusing on the application of Inkscape. Topics taught during the workshop proved intriguing or interesting to me. Upon my arrival, the instructor, Joel Coldren, appeared to be discussing code to manipulate a certain object using a corresponding Text Wrangler file with code. Using certain tags such as <svg> and </svg>, students modified a border around a particular polygon. In this case, a rectangle had a border and was manipulated to have a decreased amount of border space around the bottom and left side of the polygon. Throughout this whole portion of the session students were interested and showed their vast curiosity through many series of questions. This leads to the broadening of the InkScape topic of the day. As time progressed, the workshop attendees noted points in the Text Wrangler file using x and y values to note the vertexes on the point. Simultaneously in the InkScape window, different polygons were formed based on the position of the points noted in Text Wrangler. They proceeded to discuss opening SVGs in different programs and applications such as Inkscape, Text Wrangler, and notably Text Edit, in which they observed the code of the SVG.Later, the group opened InkScape and utilized the tools present to get a better understanding for the program. During this part of the lesson students showed strong interest towards the Application. Polygons were again used in this portion of the session to again, modify characters or objects in the canvas. These characters ranged from simple polygons to intricate, popular logos. These logos were modified using tools such as the Bezier curve, the rectangle select tool, or the path tool. This provided information and knowledge to all people present in the area. It appeared enriching and nourishing to the minds of the ones in the presence of instructor Joel Coldren.Near the end there was free time to adjust and construct original logos. Workers brainstormed and searched for inspiration and concocted an amalgam of ideas. They began to materialize as seconds and minutes past and InkScape became their guide to the product. Overall, the Web Design workshop consisted of a full overview of InkScape and the many ways it could be tinkered and modified with. Whether it is from a text editor like Text Wrangler or the actual application of InkScape. Mr. Coldren gladly provided a detailed tutorial session of InkScape to the workers and the knowledge was grasped cleanly. It seemed to bring the day together in a complete and knowledgeable manner.
