Today, students in the Web Design workshop learned the basics about HTML and CSS. They began with creating the documents inside their public_html folder. This is where they wrote the code for their websites. They created index.html and Joel explained to the students the basic tags that they can use to build the basics of their website. First, a discussion was held about how to close and open tags, the concept of nesting, and header tags. Then, they moved on to paragraph, anchor, unordered and ordered list, and images tags. After their break, the class focused on CSS; which would allow them to change look and layout of their websites. The changes the students made ranged from the color scheme and placement of text on their website to the background color and text color.
