Today the students used Java to create graphics. They added faces, hats, and other objects to their graphics which started off containing essentially the bare minimum at the beginning of the class. They also added dots that represented people to their graphics using code that they would write in TextWrangler, a powerful text editing software. There was a lot of debugging going on because the students made mistakes in their code and the smallest mistakes, such as a missing character, would stop the whole graphic from compiling, which means turning code into an actual graphic, or completely change everything in the way that the graphic would come out with all the objects in different places and having it look much different then planned. At the end, everybody had an interesting and creative graphic to show the class.
