Today, the students continued their study of Java and other computer languages. To begin the class, the students examined a Java infection model written in SIR Model. The students debugged the model by deleting and rewriting java script and under the Instructor’s direction. After writing each line of script, the instructor and interns explained the use of the code in creating the overall model. After the code was live and functional, the students examined patterns in the data and noted their observations of the model. The students continued to try to improve their programs until the break.

After the break, the students fully utilized the power of Java by using it to draw different faces for healthy, recovering and infected populations. Although the students struggled to complete the model, it was obviously a rewarding experience.
