In the morning the students created a water molecule in WebMo. WebMo is a free online JAVA based applet which allows the user to create molecules according to what atoms they want to use.

The second part of the morning, the students used a chemistry modeling kit to physically create their models. They then created models in WebMo. The students took their models and compared their angles and properties. The students also ran a coordinate scan of their molecules to measure the energy the molecule contains. The students added 2 chlorine atoms to their water molecule to see how it would affect the energy levels of the molecule. By doing this they discovered that changing the atoms in the molecule can affect the energy level in the molecule.
